Frequently Asked Questions
FAQS
How do the online lessons work?
Our lessons take place live each week during school term time using Google Meet. Once you've enrolled, we'll send you everything you need by email, including details of how to access your child's online classroom, live lessons and learning resources.
WHAT DO I NEED TO ACCESS THE ONLINE CLASSES?
A parent, guardian or responsible adult will need a Google Account to access their child’s Google Classroom. When booking, you’ll be asked to provide the email address linked to the Google Account you would like to use.
For safeguarding and access-control purposes, Google Classroom access must be through an adult’s account rather than a child’s or student’s email account. The adult account holder is responsible for allowing and supervising their child’s access to the live classes, recordings and learning resources.
Once enrolled, you’ll receive information explaining how to access your Google Classroom.
Why does Google Meet show my name instead of my child’s?
Your child accesses Google Classroom and the live lessons using the parent, guardian or responsible adult Google Account registered with us. Because of this, Google Meet will display the name associated with that Google Account rather than your child’s name.
This is completely normal and won’t affect your child’s participation in the lesson. We’ll know which child is attending from the details provided when you signed up.
How often do the classes take place?
Our live classes take place once a week during school term time, with 38 live lessons each year. During the school holidays, families also receive exclusive recorded lessons, helping children continue learning and practising until live lessons resume.
What's included with each class?
Every class includes:
-
Weekly live online lessons during school term time
-
Original lesson resources created for every lesson
-
Access to your child's online classroom
-
Lesson recordings
-
Exclusive recorded holiday lessons
Who creates the lesson resources?
Every worksheet, presentation and learning resource is created and carefully checked by Tim Burgess and his wife, Zoe, both qualified teachers. Our English and maths lessons are planned in line with the National Curriculum for England, while our Beginner Guitar lessons follow the exclusive Custard Time Beginner Guitar Curriculum, developed by Tim and Zoe.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
No problem! Every live lesson is recorded and uploaded to your child's online classroom, allowing them to catch up whenever it suits your family.
What happens during the school holidays?
Our live lessons take place during school term time. During the holidays, you'll continue to receive exclusive recorded lessons, helping your child keep learning and practising throughout the year.
Will my child need to have their camera or microphone on?
No. For safeguarding reasons, participant cameras and microphones will remain switched off throughout our live lessons. This helps create a safe, calm and focused learning environment for every child.
Does an adult need to be present?
Yes. A parent, guardian or another responsible adult aged 18 or over must remain available throughout every live lesson. Our online classes are designed to support learning but do not replace adult supervision.
How do you keep children safe online?
Creating a safe and welcoming learning environment is one of our highest priorities.
-
Lessons are taught by Tim Burgess, a qualified teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience.
-
Access to live lessons and classroom resources is available only to enrolled families.
-
Participant access is managed by the lesson host throughout every session.
-
Cameras and microphones remain switched off during lessons to support safeguarding.
How does payment work?
Your payment is taken automatically each month, giving your child ongoing access to weekly live lessons during school term time, lesson recordings, classroom resources and exclusive recorded holiday lessons. You can cancel your child's place at any time in accordance with our cancellation policy.
